The Drone Gymnasium

What if there was a place where we could go to invent something with robots?

​

The drone gymnasium sits between the lab, showroom and the field. A dynamic half-way space that invites users, experts and makers to explore what autonomous technologies could do for their local context.

​Over six intensive days, we played out a future scenario where users or “Patrons” could come into the gymnasium to explore what kind of interaction are interesting or meaningful. There they were supported by the staff to converge on an autonomous system that could be deployed in a real-world context. 

 

In today’s AI fuelled frenzy, robots are quickly being pushed into the everyday experience with little regard for the existing people, spaces and technologies they will interact with. This once-size-fits-all approach misses a golden opportunity to build sustainable and meaningful ways to interact with robots.​
